the day the sunshine melted the ice

Spiritual resource to share: our stories of encouragement and patience

We have had a few days of glorious weather -- 40 degrees Fahrenheit -- just above freezing. Kids have gone to school in t-shirts and sandals. The promise and anticipation of spring is literally in the air. Okay, but today, we are predicting another two inches of snow accompanied by a drop in the weather.

In my last post "Here comes the sun..." I had some wonderfully encouraging and hopeful comments that I wanted to share with you all. Here is one from fellow blogger, Kate:

Lovely...thank you Kim...I remember hearing a story about a Christian Science teacher who had faced a very protracted illness with unflagging resolve. When it finally yielded after years of treatment, he was asked, "What was the thought that finally broke through"....he responded by asking the person if they had ever seen a frozen river in winter. and they said yes, they had. He then asked them if they remembered how once Spring came you would watch and watch for the river to run freely again. The person said that yes, they had. He then asked them, "what day of the sun's shining melted the ice?"

The punch line was, "Every day"....I have loved this reminder that there is no day of the sun shining from within that doesn't melt away whatever seems frozen in our lives.

Keep shining! And for those of you readers nearer the equator and in the southern hemishpere, we appreciate your empathic reading!
